ABOUT ME

A 38-year radio veteran born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marvin Ross was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg school system. After graduating from West Charlotte Senior High School in 1981, he attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Safety and Driver Education, he also received extensive training in radio broadcasting through elective courses.  At the same time, he worked for the campus radio station, WNAA 90.1 FM.  Mentored under several radio business icons, including Tony Welborne, Stephen Lipscomb, Yvonne Anderson, Ty Miller, who have guided him in the booming radio business, he developed an appreciation for the genres of Jazz, R& B, and the classics.

Marvin has also worked for WTHP 98.3 in Thomasville, N.C under Jae Jackson, who is now a pinnacle in the business through radio and records. Upon graduating in 1987, he worked for the United States Government for 25 years and received his second commercial job at WCKZ, KISS 102 in Gastonia, North Carolina, in 1988.  Moving on to WPEG, Power 98 in Concord, North Carolina, under the direction of great programmers such as Michael Saunders, Andre Carson, and great personalities such as Skip Murphy, Frankie Darcell, Kevin Foxx, Chirl Girl, Keith Garrett, Chaz, Nate Quick, George “Apollo” Featherbay, Terri Avery, Daryl McClinton, Todd Haygood, and Barbara Taylor and many others. Marvin also worked at WBAV, V101.9 Charlotte, where he hosted the Sunday Smooth & Contemporary Jazz Brunch on Sundays from Noon to 3:00 pm. These influences have guided and prepared him for his next journey.

After his exit from radio in 2020, due to the pandemic, he is now the CEO/CFO/COO of the ALL NEW Groovinjazz.com, a newly created online music station.  Together with his beautiful wife of 21 years, Tesha, and their three children Kamara, Brandy, and Cydney, life has been filled with incredible moments.  Living in North Carolina is all about continued growth, spiritually, and musically with the evolving contemporary Jazz genre 24/7, 365 days a year!
